Ordering Procedure for both Chilled and Frozen Semen
- You should book a vet to perform the AI, and
if applicable get the vet to carry out a pre-breeding
assessment of your mare to ensure she is suitable
for breeding.
- Once you have decided which stallion you want
to use, please contact us to make sure that
the prices, terms and availability have not
changed. Stallions are occasionally subject
to injury, illness and competition commitments,
and as such their prices, terms and availability
can change, although usually they do not.
- Once you have confirmed the price, terms and
availability, please complete the Order Form
(which you can access on the link above) and
send it to us. Please note that semen cannot
be dispatched without a completed order form
and cleared payment.
- Once we have received your order form and
payment, we will send you confirmation of your
order.
Additional Ordering Conditions Specific to Chilled Semen
- Once you are ready for the semen to be delivered,
either you or your vet will need to contact
us to arrange delivery. Please note that delivery
requests must be made by 09.00am at the latest,
at least 48 hours in advance of the required
delivery date. This is for the government vets
to have time to prepare the mandatory health
certificates which must accompany the semen.
- It is often possible to arrange delivery with
24 hours notice providing the delivery request
has been received by us by 09.00am at the latest,
but this is not recommended as government vets
can sometimes not be available at such short
notice.
- Chilled semen deliveries cannot be made on
a Sunday, Monday or Bank Holidays due to transport
companies being unable to deliver or collect
on these days, so your vet needs to prepare
your mare accordingly. Saturday deliveries are
sometimes possible, but are more unreliable
and transport companies significantly increase
delivery charges for these.
- Chilled semen is delivered by 24 hour courier
from when it leaves the stud, and will usually
arrive by 12pm the day after dispatch. However,
some areas of the UK are able to have delivery
by 9am, and others will only be able to have
delivery up to 5pm. In this instance, delivery
can be to the nearest transport depot by 12pm
for collection. Delivery times are entirely
dictated by what the transport companies can
provide.
- Please note that if using chilled semen your
chosen stallion may not be available at the
time of requesting delivery due to unforeseen
circumstances, although this is rare in practice.
You may be required to order chilled semen from
another stallion, use frozen semen of your chosen
stallion or allow your mare to miss a cycle.
Additional Ordering Conditions Specific to Frozen Semen
- Once you are ready for the semen to be delivered,
either you or your vet will need to contact
us to arrange delivery. Please note that we
require at least 48 hrs notice for the delivery
of each dose of semen. Orders must be placed
before 09.00 am for 48 hour delivery from the
day of ordering. Deliveries are made Tuesday
- Friday.
- Please note that we strongly recommend early
delivery for frozen semen, as the containers
used to transport frozen semen can sometimes
not be immediately available, and it may take
a few days before the semen is dispatched.
